An Aquileian, Friulian, Forojulian, Alpine-Adriatic, European, global or rather glocal civic tricolour joins the colors of many levels of community and geographical belonging around the white of the ancient Roman "toga virilis", a historical symbol of universal citizenship. A specific flag for the citizens, for a civic body which is the sovereign matrix of a power never transferred even if delegated. A flag which is now a badge of our Alpine-Adriatic Cultural Civic Movement "Fogolâr Civic" and Friulian University Club "Academie dal Friûl" and also a call to a manifold civic moral community sharing a territory to respect, love and defend as mausoleum, cradle and bulwark of a Humanity always renewed...
The Alpine-Adriatic Cultural Civic Movement "FOGOLÂR CIVIC" is our prime form of mobilization.
It is a non-party informal cultural organization composed of its promoter, the civist Friulian intellectual Alberto Travain, together with helpmates and supporters. It is set out traditionally in territorial delegations and refers culturally to old popular factions and mobilizations of the Forojulian and Alpine-Adriatic area.
The movement has its historical seat in Udine and its traditional symbol is the ROSE or rather the emblem of the first regional civic movement between the Middle Ages and Modern Era, which was the promoter of the greatest civil mobilization during the Renaissance south of the Alps as well as supporter even of the original institution of a popular counter-parliament. Since 2005 the movement has also adopted the symbol of the blue-white-yellow "glocal" civist TRICOLOUR even if keeping as its own historical flag the red-outlined black and white one of the original Udinese civic body.
The Friulian University Club "ACADEMIE DAL FRIÛL" is our prime form of association.
It is a registered non-profit cultural organization formed by an assembly, a president, a committee, two control commissions, a vice president, a secretary and various helpmates.
The Club has its seat in Udine and its symbol is the EAGLE of the old Patriarchy of Aquileia whose heart was the Friulian region. The moral association matrix is the medieval Aquileian patriarch BERTRAM of Saint Geniès (1260†1350), a father of the local country and university and a catholic Blessed. In 2001 he became the first lay spiritual patron in the world elected by the municipality of Udine to recognize his civil and cultural merits.
We have also created or supported many culturally similar autonomous clubs, mainly in Udine, the historical regional capital of the political participation. We have tried to mobilize there a regenerated civic consciousness starting from the support of the neighbourhood identities, the local nucleus of community and democracy. One of these clubs is the Udine Civic Coordination "BORGO STAZIONE", an association established in 2003 in the multi-ethnic quarter of the Udine train station which can be a broad cultural evocation of the port of the ancient metropolis Aquileia…
